Weekend Preview: Derby Day

Dear CUHC, 

This weekend brings the start of the East Leagues and National League! A very exciting weekend for what promises to be a great year ahead. 

The Wblues are travelling to Cannock for their first ever game in National League. Huge good luck to them!

Wednesday saw the debut of the shiny new Veo camera. This was mainly bought to support the Wblues National League & BUCS Prem campaigns, but wil-also-by used as evidence of the Wandies beating the Mblues 7-0. Get down to Wilby to watch this @13:30 if you’re bored and want something to do (although Laird says don’t).

Fantasy Leagues! 

Kyrill sent an email out yesterday about the CUHCFELANLL. Deadline for transfers is midnight on Friday’s so get a better team name than Squandom Wearers and get selecting!

Post-derby day Hawks

It is in the pre-season schedule to head down for a ‘Mahoosive Derby Day Hawks’ - looking forward to seeing you all there!

Rating CUHC Instagram accounts 

It’s the day after a social, it’s pre-season so you have nothing to do, what better way to fill your time than a scroll of the CUHC Instagram accounts to remind (or inform) you of last nights antics (or fuel the hangxiety if you’re the subject)?!

After a thorough inspection of the accounts I have complied a graph demonstrating the quality and quantity of content generated by CUHC Instagram accounts. Also see below the reasoning behind these entirely objective and in no way biased conclusions. (and follow the accounts!)

@thegotw 

• The memes that appears from the Wandies when any slightly relevant event happens is like a slap in the face (Janno would know) 
• See the Daveygate highlight for evidence.
• Good quality, although I’ve heard the men’s side require a meme bank for this so knocking off some points for originality. 

@funmadss

• High quantity, generally good quality
• Highlights include random fixations with some of the mens side, including Chris Battered, Chenergy and Fraidie. 
• Bonus points for the DoD poems 

@mblueshockey

• A bit hit or miss, I guess their captain leads by example. 
• Up until Wednesday the only activity on this account was between March and April 2023. A sign of things to come?

• Places low for both quality and quantity
• Huge claim that they are the ‘WExcitings’ in their bio, expecting bigger and better things this year please. 

@squandstagram

• High quantity, generally ok quality, appear to enjoy attacking the beds & stealing their balls.
• Conclusion made including a thorough history of the account, has improved in recent years. 

@rovers_cuhc

• Always have great Halloween costumes, but not too sure on the quality of content that emerges from the rovers. 
• Ali G costume and graphics will always reign supreme. 
• Potential and room for improvement.  

@thewilberfortress

• Danger of too many admins, quality needs to be controlled (source: college daughter) 
• Enjoying the new era of the Wilberfortress, keep up the good work. 

@camunihc

• Libby Reid’s boyfriend & anon bank discovered Canva this year. Please see @camunihc for evidence of their homework
• Photography skills need some improvement. 

@ifltblundies 

• Severe lack of highlights 
• Points for BoBBBy’s knitted jumper!

@bedscuhc

• Not much content since Saltbeds, still trying to ride that high - fair enough it is a cinematic masterpiece. 
• Lacks a filter so much that a close friends story had to be created. 

I was going to create a summary of my favourite posts from each account but that is best left for you to make your own conclusions and get some inspo – there’s a desperate need!
