Women's Blues Season Report 2023/24

The 2023/24 season was one for the history books for the Women’s Blues, with 3 major successes celebrated across the year.

The first of these is remaining undefeated in the East Prem, earning promotion into the National Conference league for the first time. Apart from a draw in our very first game against Cambridge City, we won every match and finished top of the table with 13 points to spare!

Consistently strong performances on Wednesdays, too, led us to finish second in our league which was enough to also earn promotion to BUCS Prem. We didn’t lose a game in the league, managing to come away with some impressive draws from away days with poor availability. Unfortunately, we were knocked out of the BUCS Vase competition by Durham 2s, which was the only game we lost all season.

On top of this, we celebrated an empathic 4-0 win against Oxford in our Varsity Match. This is the most convincing Cambridge win since the Matches started up 124 years ago, and is the first time Cambridge have had back-to-back wins since 1999. All in all, a very successful and thoroughly enjoyable season. It will be exciting to see what the team can achieve when playing at a higher standard next year.
